Rosters
Each Fantasy Baseball Fanatics team will have an active line-up consisting of the following:
1 Catcher
1 1st Baseman
1 2nd Baseman
1 3rd Baseman
1 Short Stop
3 Outfielders
1 Utility/Designated Hitter
5 Starting Pitchers
5 Relief Pitchers
Games Played per Position Eligability:
Hitters 4 Games
Starting Pitchers 1 game - I went this way because some players got hurt with one game played this season and may not make it back but this at least protects them going forward
Relief pitchers 3 games
Your Major League Roster size is 40 man. This includes DL and any player signed that is not on a active MLB roster should you choose to carry that player. Only players with less than 50 innings pitched or 150 at bats on the major league level are eligable to be on minor league roster. All players with more than 50 innings pitched or 150 at bats must be on your 40 man MLB roster.
In addition to the starting positions listed below, there are 10 D.L. spots. A player who is injured may be placed on the Disabled list. The player must be on the D.L. in real life in order to qualify for the disabled list.
MINOR LEAGUE SYSTEMS
Each team will be given a 40 man minor league player allotment. Only players with less than 50 innings pitched or 150 at bats on the major league level are eligable to be on minor league roster. All players with more than 50 innings pitched or 150 at bats must be on your 40 man MLB roster.
Each year the minor league system will increase by 5 roster spots. The top 5 players drafted during the June " Major League Baseball Draft " will be added to each teams rosters.
New owners will be able to trade immediately in the league any player that is on the 40 man roster. However for the first 15 days of taking over your new organization you will not be alllowed to trade any player within your minor league organization.
Even that has rule associated with it. If a new owner wants to trade player from your minor league roster within that first 15 day period of taking control of your new organization then you can file a notice with the commissioners office within the transactions thread. Within that you will need to state that you seek permission to trade a prospect and why you want to do it. It will be up to the commissioners office to allow the notice of intent. Without that approval you can not trade any spec. To be clear a new owner can trade for a minor league player on a nother team but you CAN NOT trade your specs for the first 15 days
As a new owner you can claim prospects and waive specs. It is the hope of the veteran owners and the commissioners office that all new owners will take this first 15 days to get to know your minor league system. To build a depth chart and post that depth chart on your roster page. You can create a new thread. The more you know your organization the more wisely you will be able to make a move or not make a move.
College Draft and International Signings
College Players Draft: On August 16 of each season the commissioner’s office will place the top five players that each organization signs on your minor league rosters. So each season during this time frame the commissioner’s office will add five spots to your minors.
International Free Agents: The commissioner’s office considers these players to be free agents. They are not part of the college drafts. The commissioner’s office strongly encourages each owner to keep track of signings as they occur as these free agents are open to each organization to sign through free agency.
Contracts, Free Agency & Arbitration
Original Contracts
All original MLB Contracts were determined through the use of the website Cot's MLB Contracts mlbcontracts.blogspot.com
If a player has less than 6 years of MLB service time, his salary for the 2010 season will be calculated from his 2009 statistics using the format listed in Section VII.
Players on 40 man rosters that are entering years two and three will make league minimum of 500k.
If a MLB player with greater than 6 years service is eligible for free agency prior to the 2010 season, for the sake of salary relief, he is considered a free agent and will be eligible for auction after the completion of the 2009 World Series (dates to be specified soon.)
1.) Salaries for players years 1 through 6
a. 1st year - no salary
b. 2nd year - 500K
c. 3rd year - 500k
d. 4-6 min 750K for any player in this group. All players within this group will be arbitration eligable as long as they meet the qualifications.
2.) Veteran Players-
Once it has been determined that a player has exhausted his arbitration period go to mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/.Here you will find salaries for players for 2009. Remember that players with contracts extending beyond 2009 will be paid the 2009 cost for the duration of the contract and to allow for discounts covered in Section III “Salary Cap”.
Veteran players whose contracts end after the 2009 season are AUTOMATICALLY free agents and will be available THIS off-seasons free agent draft. Player listed as having options (either Club or Player) may be released at the owners discretion.
In order to ease the financial burden of teams that over currently over the $100m salary cap the league offers a one-time allowance to release players whose contract ends after the 2010 season. This offer is available to ALL teams and again, is at the owners discretion.
Penalty for Releasing Players under Contracts:
If you release a player under contract then you will be hit with a 40 percent cap hit on the current year only. An example of this would be as follows:
Lets say I waive or release 4 Phillips, Brandon, $11m (2011+). Because I am waiving him I would have to pay a penalty of 40 percent of his current year salary only. If he were to be a free agent in 2013 I would not have to pay a penatly for the remaining two years. So for the pleasure of doing away with him I would be penalized which is $4.4 million. So I would only be compensated $6.6 million back to my payroll.
Contract Extensions:
No contract Extensions in FBF
Players Gaining Service Time
Players Gaining Service Time
Players years 1 through 6 gain service time per year. In order for a player to gain service time he must appear in the following amount of games
Every day players must play in 30 games
Starting Pitchers must start 7 games
Relief Pitchers must appear in 18 games
for those pitchers with SP/RP add starts + relief appearances and if the equal 7 then the player advances to the next season
Arbitration
As owner you may determine if you do not wish to offer arbitration to players entering years four through six. If you do not wish to offer player arbitration you will leave a thread. Those players will then go to a waiver wire at a date to de determined by the commissioner’s office. Players that are picked up via the waivers process will be offered arbitration by the claiming team and MUST REMAIN ON THOSE TEAMS 40 MAN MLB ROSTER FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON.
Arbitration will be offered to players entering years four through six. A player must total 250 at bats for hitters 125 innings pitched for starters and 40 innings pitched for relief pitchers. Pitchers that show as SP/RP must follow the Starting Pitcher guide to determine value for arbitration.
The following Categories will be used for determining arbitration for players. A player can earn up to one million per category. Total each category and that will give you his total pay raise for the upcoming season.
Pursuint to Major Leauge Baseball rules any player that is not offered arbitration then he will become a free agent. Therefore to go along with major league baseball rules any player that is not offered arbitration by midnight December 1st will become a free agent. mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100930&content_id=15257512&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
The commissioners office will post all eligable players for arbitration at the conclusion of the season as I did with the players that were eligable for contract exentions. You will have until November 20th midnight leading into November 21st to decide if you are going to offer arbitration to those players.
